I’ve never used purple shampoo before. Any tips for new users?

It’s completely normal to feel unsure or intimidated if you’ve never used purple shampoo, but it’s very easy once you get started. Here are a few simple steps to get the best results:

  1. Start with a patch test on a small section at the back of your hair near the roots.
  2. Apply to fully wet hair and distribute evenly from roots to ends.
  3. Begin by leaving in hair for 1-3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Adjust over time if you want a stronger toning effect.

How often should you use it? 

It should be used every 3–5 washes and is not meant for daily use. In between purple shampoo washes, we recommend rotating with a hydrating or clarifying Shampoo to help maintain balanced, healthy hair. Purple shampoo can also be drying, so we recommend pairing it with a Deep Conditioner.

How do I know if this is right for my hair color?

Our purple shampoo is designed for blonde, gray, silver, bleached, and highlighted hair. If your hair tends to pick up warm or brassy tones, this is a great fit for maintaining a cooler, more balanced color.

Will it turn my hair purple?

No. When used as directed, it will not turn your hair purple. It’s designed to gently neutralize brassy tones, not deposit heavy color. We recommend starting with a shorter processing time (1–3 minutes) and adjusting as needed for your hair.

What’s the difference between Plaine Products’ deep conditioner and your regular conditioner?

Our Deep Conditioner is a richer, more intensive treatment than our daily Conditioner. It’s designed to provide deeper moisture and nourishment, making it especially beneficial for dry, damaged, or curly hair, or as an occasional treatment when hair needs extra care.

Which Deep Conditioner scent option is lighter?

Meadow has a lighter, more subtle fresh scent, while Cherry Almond is more noticeable with a lingering sweet aroma. Both are naturally derived and designed to be pleasant without being overpowering.
