Reducing Single-Use Plastic in a Whole New Way

Plaine Products Partners with Bleu World to Pick Up 547 Pounds of Trash From Holiday Sales This holiday season, Plaine Products teamed up with Bleu World, an ocean conservation organization, to turn your purchases into impactful action. For every order placed during our Holiday Sale, we pledged to pick up one pound of trash, reducing single-use plastic waste in a whole new way. Thanks to your support, we’re thrilled to announce that a total of 547 pounds of trash will be removed from our environment. Together, we’ve made waves of change—and we’re just getting started. Bleu World: Guardians of the Ocean Bleu World is on a mission to protect marine ecosystems through community-based research, cleanups, and education. By hosting regular beach and underwater cleanups, they bring together ocean changemakers who are passionate about conservation, exploration, and science. Their dedication to protecting the oceans aligns seamlessly with Plaine Products’ commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability. During this partnership, Bleu World is focusing their cleanup efforts in Southern California, removing trash from beaches and underwater areas to restore these vital ecosystems. Their work goes beyond just picking up litter—they’re fostering a community of conservationists ready to protect our oceans for generations to come. Shared Values, Shared Mission of Reducing Single-Use Plastic  At Plaine Products, we’re driven by a simple yet powerful mission: to keep plastic out of our oceans and landfills. We achieve this by offering refillable aluminum bottles for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and other personal care products. By choosing aluminum over plastic, we’re reducing single-use plastic waste and encouraging others to join us in creating a cleaner, greener planet. Our story began when sisters Lindsey and Alison Delaplaine decided to take a stand against plastic pollution. Lindsey’s decade of living and working in The Bahamas gave her a front-row seat to the devastating impact of plastic waste. Seeing beaches and oceans littered with plastic bottles and debris, she knew something had to change. After reflecting on the amount of plastic in her own bathroom, she called Alison, and together they created Plaine Products to make sustainable living easy and accessible for everyone. Partnering with Bleu World to clean up 547 pounds of trash is a natural extension of our mission. Every bottle we refill, every piece of trash we remove, and every conversation we spark brings us closer to a world with less plastic waste. The Ripple Effect of Your Holiday Purchases This collaboration demonstrates the power of community action. By choosing Plaine Products during our Holiday Sale, you played an active role in removing 547 pounds of trash from the environment. That’s more than just a number—it’s cleaner beaches, healthier marine life, and a step toward a plastic-free future. What’s Next? We’re excited to continue working with Bleu World and other like-minded organizations to amplify our impact. Whether it’s through supporting cleanups, advocating for sustainable practices, or encouraging refillable solutions, we’re committed to creating lasting change. Want to be part of the movement? Keep choosing Plaine Products and spreading the word about sustainable living. Together, we can make a difference—one refillable bottle and one pound of trash at a time. Thank you for helping us make this holiday season one to remember for our planet. Let’s keep the momentum going in the year ahead!

Oceanic Society

We'd like to introduce you to one of our newest nonprofit partners, Oceanic Society. Oceanic Society's mission is to improve ocean health by deepening the connections between people and nature to address the root cause of its decline: human behavior. For over 50 years, the Oceanic Society has worked to inspire and empower people worldwide to take part in building a healthy future for the world’s oceans. And, they are America’s oldest non-profit organization dedicated to ocean conservation! Through a variety of programs that include everything from reducing ocean plastic pollution, curbing climate change, and saving sea turtles, they are connecting people to the ocean and solving the key ocean problems of our time. One of the ways Oceanic Society drives its mission is through conscientious nature travel. As pioneers of eco-tourism, their expeditions are designed to positively impact the natural areas and human communities they visit, all while delivering transformative nature experiences for their travelers. Their trips focus on deepening the connection between people and nature, and promoting the adoption of ocean-friendly “Blue Habits” – personal actions that improve ocean health. For every traveler that joins an Oceanic Society expedition, they fund four days of beach cleanups through their Plastic Pollution Offset Program, resulting in the removal of an average of 200 pounds of marine debris from the environment, per person. As our founders have a love of travel and the ocean the partnership felt like a natural fit to co-founder and CEO, Lindsey McCoy. "I've lived on a sailboat and we chartered sailboats for family trips whenever we can, so making sure that our products were biodegradable and we could safely use them to shower on the back of the boat were so important to us. We're thrilled that our partnership with the Oceanic Society will mean that more people will get the chance to use our products to ensure less plastic and toxin-free showers while out on the ocean."   We are thrilled to support the work of the Oceanic Society through our 1% Percent for the Planet membership and they are also part of our Plaine Promoters program. If you use the coupon code OS20 while shopping online at Plaine Products, you’ll get 20% off your order and an additional 10% will be donated to Oceanic Society.

Love Blue: Beach Cleanups & Outreach to Help the Ocean

Plaine Products has a new nonprofit Plaine Promoter  to announce: Love Blue is working to conserve our oceans through community outreach & organized beach cleanups. Love Blue will help spread the word about Plaine Products' sustainable personal care offerings that are both biodegradable and waste-free. Supporters of Love Blue's mission can use the coupon code LOVEBLUE20 to take 20% off their Plaine Products order and have an additional 10% donated to Love Blue.Love Blue started on July 19th, 2019 when a small group of ocean lifeguards & community surfers who shared a similar idea of oceanic conservation, decided to establish a nonprofit. The work began as small beach cleanups in Wildwood Crest but has now evolved into many active chapters which include: Wildwood Crest, Coastal Carolina University, Stockton University, Rowan University & more. Beach Cleanups and Strategic Partnerships The Wildwood Crest Chapter of Love Blue Inc. hosts regular community beach cleanups, has strategically placed signs to raise awareness, and established public cleanup stations that have been pivotal in maintaining the pristine beauty of their coastline.  In a strategic move to further augment its sustainability model, Love Blue Inc. has forged partnerships with two industry-leading organizations: Terracycle and Helpsy. These collaborations represent a fusion of innovative solutions aimed at addressing pressing environmental challenges within the Wildwood Crest community. Despite significant strides in environmental legislation, the issue of cigarette butt litter remains a persistent challenge. Wildwood Crest's transition to a smoke-free beach was a commendable step toward mitigating this issue. However, beach cleanups revealed a concerning trend of increased cigarette butt accumulation along the waterline and bulkheads. In response, Love Blue Inc., in collaboration with Terracycle, aims to deploy cigarette butt collection units at each street end in Wildwood Crest. These receptacles will provide beachgoers with a convenient and responsible means of disposing of their cigarette butts, thereby curbing littering and safeguarding the marine environment. The textile industry represents a significant yet often overlooked contributor to environmental degradation. Helpsy, renowned for its innovative approaches to textile waste management, offers a sustainable solution to this burgeoning problem. Love Blue Inc. plans to integrate Helpsy's textile recycling bins into the community infrastructure, facilitating the responsible disposal and recycling of textiles.   Incentivizing Environmental Stewardship Both initiatives implemented by Love Blue Inc. carry a unique giveback incentive, rewarding the community for their collective efforts towards sustainability. Through active participation in cigarette butt collection and textile recycling, residents and visitors alike can contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment while simultaneously supporting Love Blue Inc.'s mission.
