Plaine Products: Your Hair Care Solution for Common Problems

Here at Plaine Products we pride ourselves on making hair care products that work for everyone and solving problems. We don't just reduce plastic, we can also help solve dandruff, hair loss, dry ends, frizzy hair and more common hair and scalp problems.

We want our products to work for you no matter your hair thickness, porosity, texture or curl pattern. Still, each of our products have their own unique benefits. Some may work better for you than others or are better suited for different hair concerns. We’re going to get into the nitty gritty - that way you know exactly what products to add to your cart next time you shop!

Hair Loss

Hair loss is typically related to external factors such as; heredity,

hormonal changes, medical conditions, medications, stress or as a normal part of aging. It’s important to find the source of the hair loss to be able to effectively treat it. Still, experiencing hair loss can be incredibly frustrating. You want to know that your hair care products are working for you, not against you.

If you’re currently experiencing hair loss, the first thing we recommend is our Rosemary Mint Vanilla Shampoo. Rosemary essential oil has been shown to improve both hair thickness and hair growth, and is thought to improve cellular generation.

Another great thing to try for hair growth is a scalp massage. It's a wonderful way to stimulate the scalp, increase blood-flow and encourage hair growth. Our Beauty Oil is a great product to facilitate this. Using a small dad, rub the product in the palms of your hands to spread evenly. Using the pads of your fingers, gently massage your scalp for 5 minutes, once a week to stimulate growth.

Texturize

We created the first ever sustainable Sea Salt Spray for this very reason! It’s designed to mimic the texture and volume the salty ocean water gives your hair, creating that signature tousled, beachy effect. It adds texture without making hair look greasy or weighing it down. It does this by absorbing excess oil, which means using it too often can dry hair out. To prevent dryness, you want to ensure you’re using a moisturizing conditioner. We talk more about some great ways to moisturize your hair with our products in the “Dry Ends” section, next.

Our Sea Salt Spray is best used on damp hair. Spritz throughout and then use your hands to scrunch your hair. Then allow it to air-dry or use a diffuser to speed up the drying process while maintaining beachy waves. You can also touch it up with a curling iron if you want more defined waves.

Dry Ends

Speaking of moisturizing conditioners, our Deep Conditioner is great if your hair tends to be on the drier side. It’s thicker and more nourishing than our regular conditioner, making it the perfect pairing for dry hair. It can also be used as an all-over hair mask for an extra dose of hydration, which is a must in the dry winter months! It’s also great if you have oily roots but dry ends. Applying our deep conditioner to your ends will keep them moisturized without weighing down your roots and causing more oil buildup.

Our Beauty Oil is great to add extra hydration and lock in moisture at the ends of your hair. It contains a blend of premium oils including Jojoba, Evening Primrose, Flax Seed, Rosehip and Hemp, all of which are packed full of antioxidants and deeply moisturizing. You can use it when your hair is wet, applying a small amount to your ends before air drying or using heat.

Dandruff

Similar to hair loss, there are typically external factors that cause dandruff. While we don’t have any medicated shampoos that are made specifically for dandruff, we do typically recommend our Rosemary Mint Vanilla Shampoo. Rosemary essential oil helps reduce scalp inflammation and irritation, which can reduce dandruff. Mint essential oil also has a cooling effect that can soothe a dry, itchy scalp.

Another great option is our Citrus Lavender Shampoo. Lavender essential oil also helps reduce scalp inflammation and is also antimicrobial. It helps prevent bacteria from growing which in turn helps prevent itchy scalp and dandruff.

If using either of these alone aren’t enough for you, we’ve had customers find great success in rotating this shampoo with their medicated ones. That way you can manage your dandruff and still cut back on waste!

Frizzy

We know how annoying frizz and static can be, so we’ve developed a lot of products to help combat that. The first is several products in our cherry almond line, namely our Shampoo and Deep Conditioner. They contain sweet almond oil, which is especially nourishing and helps to combat frizz. It also promotes shine and can help prevent hair breakage.

If you need something light weight for in between washes, our Hair Repair is the product for you. It’s great for locking in moisture to wet hair or adding a spritz of nourishment to dry hair if it’s feeling a little dull and lifeless. It contains our signature aloe along with several oils; shea oil, mango seed butter, argan oil and grape seed oil. All of these promote hydration, shine and vibrancy. Grape seed oil also has a smoke point of 420 degrees, meaning the hair repair can double as a heat protectant. If your hair is oil-prone, we recommend only spraying on the ends of your hair.

If you like a slicked back look or want to tame flyaways, our Styling Gel will be your best friend. It’s light weight and helps smooth frizzy hair without making it look greasy. It can also be mixed with our Beauty Oil to add a little extra shine and hydration to hair.

Oil-Prone

By now, you’re probably thinking we just can’t get enough of our Rosemary Mint Vanilla Shampoo… and you’d be right! It’s our original and most popular scent for a reason. It has so many great uses. If your hair tends to be more oily, this shampoo is for you. Rosemary essential oil is clarifying and helps balance oil levels. It can help reduce oil-build up so your hair isn’t as weighed down and you can go longer in between washes.

Brassy

If you have blonde, silver or grey hair you know that over-time your hair can take on unwanted yellow or brassy tones, making it look dull and

lifeless. The purple pigment in our Purple Shampoo helps to counteract these unwanted tones, leaving your hair looking cooler, brighter and more vibrant. To use, apply evenly to wet hair, working from roots to ends to ensure full coverage. Allow it to sit on your hair for 1-15 minutes, depending on the brightness you want to achieve. If left on too long it could give your hair a slight purple tint so be cautious and start slow. Once time is up, rinse shampoo out thoroughly and follow up with a hydrating conditioner, like our Deep Conditioner

If you have dry, damaged, or overly porous hair you’ll want to monitor the color correction because it will be extra sensitive to the effects of purple shampoo. We suggest starting with a strand test to see how your hair reacts to the pigment.

Volumize

If you want to add volume to your hair or enhance your curls, you’re going to want our Styling Gel in your hair care arsenal. It’s light weight and multi-purpose, blending the shine and hold of a gel with the softness and manageability of a defining cream. Traditional hair gels can contain alcohols that damage hair, leading to a dry hair and scalp. This can lead to irritation, greasiness and product buildup over time. Our product doesn’t contain any of these damaging alcohols but instead contains our signature aloe vera which will nourish your hair as you use it.

Important tip! To get the most out of our styling gel, you want to emulsify it by rubbing your palms together before applying to your hair. Apply it from roots to ends, focusing on roots. Then blow-dry with a round brush, making sure to over-direct the brush at the roots to create maximum lift and volume.

Sensitive Scalp (no fragrance)

If you have scalp conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or seborrheic dermatitis, fragrance can irritate the skin further and cause flare-ups. This can lead to redness, itching, flaking and inflammation. Whether you have a sensitive scalp or simply prefer to skip the fragrance, our Unscented Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for you. They're hydrating yet gentle on the scalp, helping to calm any irritation.

They are also truly fragrance-free. In the personal care industry, the term "unscented" typically means companies can add additional chemicals to mask the smell. The term "fragrance-free" means truly free of fragrance, no added chemicals. Unfortunately we didn't know that difference when we launched our unscented line years ago. We can assure you our unscented line is truly fragrance-free though, no added chemicals!
