Discover the Magic of Unscented Products

Ever wonder why your skin might be getting irritated by your body wash, lotion, or even your shampoo and conditioner?  Did you switch to all-natural products, hoping for a fix, but are still experiencing skin irritation from them?  If you struggle with sensitive skin or skin allergies, finding products that are compatible can be a struggle. Here at Plaine Products, we understand that sometimes natural ingredients aren't enough to soothe irritation. That's why we created our Unscented line with you in mind.

Our Unscented line includes full size and travel size Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and Body Lotion! In our skin care line we also have an unscented Face Wash. Fragrance in Products

If you look at the ingredients in many mainstream shampoos, conditioners, body washes, lotions, or styling products, chances are you'll see an ingredient called "fragrance." This ingredient is what makes up the scent of the product.  Companies typically won't list the specific ingredients in this "fragrance" in order to protect their formula from being used by other companies.  This protects them but what about the consumer?  If we don't know what's in this ingredient, then how do we know what we're putting on our body?  Short answer: we don't. Here at Plaine Products, the ingredients making up the scent of our products are natural essential oils and natural fragrance ingredients. You can learn more about our plant based ingredients on our website

No matter how natural and clean the fragrance ingredients can be, they can still cause skin irritation in some with sensitive skin. That's why we created our unscented line - to include all the nourishing ingredients you love without the fragrance you don't.

Effects Fragrances Can Have on Your Skin and Scalp

Those of us with sensitive skin, pre-existing skin conditions, allergies, or even a hypersensitive sense of smell can get very irritated by the ingredients in fragrances or even by essential oils. One common condition many people experience from fragrances or essential oils is known as contact dermatitis.  This is a form of eczema, so after prolonged use of a product, your skin may start to develop an eczema-like rash.  This is one reason why patch testing a product is a great idea!  Many times, essential oils or the unknown ingredients in "fragrances" can be the culprit for irritation. Which is why an unscented or fragrance-free product may be the best option.

A Product for the Whole Family

Not only is our unscented line great for those with sensitive skin, it's truly something that can be used by the whole family. Two other members of the family that need something gentle and safe for their skin; kids and pets! Our unscented line is gentle enough to be used on babies and kids of all ages. It's also safe to use during pregnancy and can be really helpful while healing postpartum. It's also great to use on our furry friends when they need a bath.

Unscented vs. Fragrance-Free

Contrary to what you might believe, these two do not mean the same thing. Here at Plaine Products, our unscented products are truly fragrance-free. In the personal care industry, the term "unscented" typically means companies can add additional chemicals to mask the smell. The term "fragrance-free" means truly free of fragrance, no added chemicals. Unfortunately, we didn't know that difference when we launched our unscented line years ago. We can assure you our unscented line is truly fragrance-free though, no added chemicals!
